What Do Points Make?

What Do Points Make?

The campaign aimed to inform young people that when they are caught speeding they get 3 penalty points on their licence and a £60 fine. For a newly qualified driver, just two speeding tickets and they lose their licence. This means that they have to spend more money on re-taking their test and also on higher insurance premiums.

Driving safely within the speed limit not only avoids fines and points on your licence; it also means that you are less likely to have an accident. Young drivers make up just 10% of licence holders but are involved in 29% of all road crashes so it was vital to get the road safety message across in a way that captured their imagination.

As a part of the campaign, a web site providing information about the Pass Plus Scheme was also launched. The web site featured a competition with a prize of a Pass Plus course for one lucky winner.

The aim of this campaign was to remind new drivers that they go back to square one if they clock up six points in the first two years; not only that but they are an extremely vulnerable group of drivers.
