Cheaters Never Win

This booklet, which is entitled Caught speeding? Want to Trick the System? has been produced to warn drivers of the very serious consequences of deceiving the Authorities to try and get out of a speeding penalty.
The Scheme has become increasingly aware of the growing number of drivers who, when issued with a Notice of Intended Prosecution as a result of speeding, attempt to contest their tickets by deceiving or misleading the Authorities as to the identity of the driver, address details, who the car belongs to, or ‘passing on’ points to a willing third party. Of course, more often than not, Leicestershire Constabulary’s comprehensive scrutiny of all contested tickets will usually ‘fish out’ the non-genuine cases. But the time, expense and resources taken up by investigating false cases is immense. Using case studies and general information, the booklet aims to warn those who may be contemplating an attempt to dodge the system of the very serious penalties that may be imposed if caught.
A spokesperson of the Safety Camera Scheme said:
“It’s amazing the lengths some people will go to try and get out of a speeding fine. However, by simply slowing down and adhering to the speed limits, these drivers could save themselves the time, hassle of trying to dodge the system.
“We want to make it absolutely clear - perverting the course of justice is a serious criminal offence and can lead to a custodial sentence.”
