Back Away: Car stickers to deter tailgating

Back Away car sticker

April 2006 saw the launch of the Safety Camera Scheme’s first ever anti-speeding car sticker.

The high visibility car stickers have been produced to remind drivers of the intimidating, costly and dangerous consequences of driving too close the car in front. It is estimated that tailgating drivers are responsible for a large proportion of road traffic collisions in the area, due to the lack of reaction time if the car in front brakes suddenly.

A spokesperson for the Safety Camera Scheme said:

“Tail-gating not only intimidates the driver in front into breaking the speed limit, it also reduces the ability to stop in time if the driver in front has to suddenly hit their brakes. Research shows that tailgating is one of the most common examples of bad driving and nearly half of British drivers are risking serious accidents by doing it.”

Remember - never intimidate other drivers to break the speed limit and always ensure that there is at least a 2-second gap between you and the car in front.

The stickers are available FREE of charge - click here.
